Atalum to Offer ZigBee Smart Engine as Stand-Alone

MADRID, Spain, /PRNewswire/ -- Atalum Wireless S.A., the leader in software to deploy and manage ZigBee networks, announced it will offer its ZigBee Smart Engine (ZSE), a component of all of Atalum's products, as a stand-alone product for companies to build or extend their own ZigBee related software offerings.

The ZSE enables two-way communication between any ZigBee network and third-party application while automatically processing ZigBee data into generic formats and vice-versa. The ZSE offers a standard and unique approach to commissioning and managing ZigBee networks because it eliminates the prerequisite of loading non-ZigBee software onto ZigBee devices or using specific hardware to work with each type of third-party application.

The ZSE sits on the software side and is used by all of Atalum's ZigBee commissioning and management products.

Atalum will offer the ZSE to companies wishing to build their own ZigBee applications. Enterprises can also extend current offerings to be "ZigBee enabled" with Atalum's powerful ZSE.

Enterprises continue to have the flexibility to use a variety of management services from Atalum but can now also build or extend their own applications by adding ZigBee related services with Atalum's ZSE.

"Our software focus and core ZigBee expertise translate into a powerful mechanism to standardize the management and maintenance of ZigBee networks and gives enterprises the means to leverage their ZigBee infrastructure," said Sandra L. Wear, CEO & President, Atalum. "The ZSE does the heavy lifting so that the costs of controlling ZigBee networks are mitigated with a standard platform from which to create or add services across any type of ZigBee network."
