ASCI Extends ActiveBatch Support To Four OS Platforms

MORRISTOWN, NJ -- Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. (ASCI), a leading provider of system software solutions that enhance enterprise systems, announced it has extended its ActiveBatch Job Scheduling and Workload Automation execution system support to include the HP NonStop Kernel (NSK), IBM i5/OS, SuSe Linux and SCO UNIX platform families. With the added support, ActiveBatch further increases the flexibility and cross-platform compatibility that has made it one of the world's most widely-used job scheduling and workflow automation applications.

ActiveBatch, currently available in Version 7, is a versatile and powerful enterprise application for Windows, UNIX, Linux, z/OS, and OpenVMS platforms. The solution uniquely adds strategic business value by automating operations in real-time for improved IT operations throughout an organization.

Deployed at enterprises in 36 countries, ActiveBatch enables users to automate and centrally manage jobs and workflows across multiple and disparate computing platforms, applications and databases. Version 7 adds to these capabilities by offering a dynamic Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and related Web Services tools to support internal and external Web Services as part of scheduled workflows.

"ActiveBatch is well known for its cross-platform support. The addition of HP NSK, IBM i5/OS, SuSe Linux and SCO UNIX gives enterprises operating large, diverse computing environments the additional system support they need," said Jim Manias, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Advanced Systems Concepts. "Our goal with this extension, as with all enhancements to ActiveBatch, is to continually meet the real-world requirements of our full range of customers."

HP's NonStop Kernel, first introduced by Tandem, is used by many major financial and telecom companies to provide fault-tolerant operation. ActiveBatch supports the HP Integrity NonStop Server platforms (single and multi-core) as well as the S-series MIPS based systems. IBM's i5/OS (formerly named OS/400) operating system on the company's i-Series platforms, including both PowerPC5 and 6 systems. ActiveBatch already supports IBM e-Series, p-Series, and z-Series platforms.

SuSe Linux, sponsored by Novell, is one of the most popular open source operating systems and is built atop the Linux kernel. SCO UNIX brings the reliability, scalability and performance of the UNIX OS to a wide range of enterprise systems.

ActiveBatch's new OS support is available to new purchasers of Version 7, as well as via automatic upgrade to companies participating in ASCI's ActiveBatch Version Upgrade program.
