DWS Series anemometers from Carlo Gavazzi, Buffalo Grove, IL, measure wind velocity from 3.3–67 mph (1.5–30 m/s) and can be used to improve efficiency and safety. Sensors feature selectable npn and pnp transistor output, a proportional output, wind vanes for wind direction sensing, an operating temperature range of –20°C to 60°C, and rugged housings. Applications include increasing the efficiency on wind turbines, accurate monitoring with weather stations, increasing safety with outdoor hoists/cranes, in greenhouses, and to inhibit large industrial doors from operating in high winds.
