Sampling now to select customers, InvenSense, claims its ICS-40720 is the first 70-dB, analog MEMS microphone for the consumer, CE market. Described as an RF-hardened, ultra-low-noise low-power differential-analog output MEMS microphone, it targets products such as smartphones, tablets, digital still/video cameras, teleconferencing systems, Bluetooth headsets, notebook PCs, and security/surveillance. The ICS-40720 measures 4 mm x 3 mm x 1.2 mm and consumes 160 µA of operating current. Other claimed features are a very high SNR and extended wideband frequency response.
