3eTI Introduces Sniper Detection, Perimeter Protection

TAMPA, FL -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- 3e Technologies International (3eTI), an Ultra Electronics company, is introducing GunfireGuard, a new solution that will deliver the real-time video analytics strengths of 3eTI's VirtualFence and Ultra Electronics' patented acoustic sensor technology that provides an extra level of security and almost immediate response to hostile activity. GunfireGuard is the ultimate perimeter protection system for critical enclaves, such as forward deployed bases and high-crime urban areas.

With GunfireGuard, force protection reaches a new plateau in a complete physical security package. Using advanced algorithms, GunfireGuard can isolate a sniper's firing position within the surrounding environment while simultaneously recording its latitude and longitude—allowing personnel to zoom in instantly on the sniper's location.

"Once the gunfire is detected, VirtualFence cameras turn and focus on where the shots came from, making the solution that much more effective. The advantage of having a sensor and camera proximately located is that you can very quickly gain visibility of the sniper," said Benga Erinle, President of 3eTI. "In applications where multiple sensors are deployed, GunfireGuard can pinpoint exactly where the sniper is."

The GunfireGuard system is compact, lightweight and easy to install. Its sniper detection sensor integrates with 3eTI's VirtualFence wireless sensor and video surveillance application, which has been deployed at dozens of federal facilities—including many U.S. Navy bases, where the system provides continuous security around the compound's perimeter.

"Recent overseas military engagements have highlighted the need for advanced technology for base perimeter protection," Erinle said. "GunfireGuard offers the protection our front-line warfighters need to move from a defensive to an offensive posture when encountering enemy fire—a capability which can shorten hostile engagements and ultimately save lives."

GunfireGuard detects and localizes the source of incoming high velocity rounds and provides accurate target data—including information on direction, distance and elevation—for a more effective response. The acoustic sensor technology behind GunfireGuard includes an array of microphones that listen for the signature of gunfire and use that signature to identify and triangulate where it came from in real time, allowing soldiers to locate and eliminate intrusions instantly.

GunfireGuard will be available in Q1 2012.

3eTI is demonstrating the GunfireGuard platform at LandWarNet 2011 this week at the Tampa Convention Center at the Ultra Electronics booth (#1430).
