MELVILLE, NY (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (Nasdaq:CMTL) announced that its Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., received a $3.1 million order for performance enhancement proxies from the United States Army. The satellite communications equipment will be used by the Army in tactical operating environments.
The Turbo IP Performance Enhancement Proxy is designed to combat the inherent challenges of transmitting transmission control protocol (TCP) over satellite links. The unit provides transparent acceleration of TCP sessions, increasing throughput over satellite links while requiring minimal topology changes. The Turbo IP Performance Enhancement Proxy is standards-based, supporting the Space Communications Protocol Standard-Transport Protocol (SCPS-TP). It provides reliable connection-oriented, end-to-end data transfer for user applications. Common uses for the product include the enhancement of satellite links for Internet traffic or backbone trunking services.
