2A Switching Regulators Replace Inefficient Components

TRACO POWER’s TSR 2 series 2A step-down switching regulators are groomed as drop-in replacements for inefficient LMxx linear regulators. An efficiency up to 96 % allows full load operation up to +67°C ambient temperature (full-load) without any heat-sink or forced cooling.


The regulators offer improved features over linear regulators including better output accuracy (±2 %), lower standby current of 1mA and no requirement of external capacitors.  They come in SIPs measuring 0.55 in. x 0.3 in. x 0.4 in.  The family consists of 14 models with output voltages ranging from 1.2 to 15 Vdc. All models are tightly regulated and operate with 1% load variation from 0 to 100%, overload protection, and reliability exceeding 13 Million hours per MIL-HDBK-217F. The DC input ranges from 3 to 36 Vdc depending on the model which make them ideal for point of load regulators for industrial and battery powered applications.
