20A Hot Swap Controller Integrates MOSFET And Current Sensing
Linear Technology Corp.

Addressing high-density circuit boards, the LTC4234 20A hot-swap controller integrates a MOSFET and current sensing capability in a 38-pin, 5 mm x 9 mm QFN package. The device ensures safe board insertion and removal from live 2.9V to 15V backplanes by controlling an internal N-channel power MOSFET to slowly power up bulk capacitors, avoiding sparks, connector damage, and system glitches. Other features include a 2.9V to 15V operating range, current limit for overcurrent fault protection, 11% accurate at 22.5A full scale, adjustable via a single resistor, output-voltage dependent foldback, an adjustable fault timer, and under-voltage, over-voltage, and over-temperature protection. Pricing starts at $4.95 each/1,000. For a datasheet, visit http://www.linear.com/product/LTC4234
