The ADIS16480 from Analog Devices Inc., Norwood, MA, is a 10-DoF MEMS IMU with an embedded sensor fusion algorithm that delivers accurate orientation sensing in platform stabilization, navigation, and instrumentation applications. The device integrates a triaxial gyroscope with a ±450°/s dynamic range, 6°/hr. in-run bias stability, and 0.3°/√hr. angular random walk; a triaxial accelerometer with a ±10 g range; a triaxial magnetometer with a ±2.5 gauss range; a digital pressure sensor with a 300–1100 mbar range; and the company's ADSP-BF512 Blackfin processor. Features include an extended Kalman filter, 330 MHz bandwidth, ~500 ms start-up time, 2000 g shock survivability, 0.01% nonlinearity, factory calibration of each MEMS IMU, and sensor signal processing to support closely aligned (0.05°) and phase-matched axes.
